Your new workplace

The Individual and Labor Market Administration (IAF) consists of Individual and Family Care, Labor Market, and Adult Education.

The administration is divided into four operational areas, and within the area of Work and Support, we are now looking for employment consultants. The other operational areas are Children, Youth and Family, Substance Abuse Mental Health, and Adult Education.

In Work and Support, we focus on providing the municipal residents we assist with the support they need to become self-sufficient through work or studies. One of our strengths is working together in cross-professional teams around our participants. Our staff needs to collaborate closely with each other to succeed in our common mission. Through our collaboration platform, the Labor Market Square, we also work closely with staff from the Employment Service, the Social Insurance Agency, and Region Västernorrland.

The target group we work with consists of job seekers aged 16-65 who, for various reasons, need support to become self-sufficient. Many of those we meet today struggle with neuropsychiatric, mental, and/or physical disabilities, inadequate schooling, the need for language development in Swedish, or other challenges that may require support. Often, they carry a combination of these challenges when they meet us, which places high demands on the continuous development of our operations to meet needs.

Within Work and Support, we have 17 employment consultant positions with different specializations. The workgroup also includes a coordinator. We are now strengthening our team with a position to meet more target groups. As a new member of our team, you will have a more experienced caseworker as a mentor and receive close operational support from the coordinator for the operation. We offer generous wellness benefits, including wellness hours and wellness grants. We also offer remote work according to agreement for up to 40% of the working time.

Your contribution as an employment consultant

As an employment consultant, you will map the participant's needs for support together with them and create a plan towards self-sufficiency. The work involves a lot of supporting/coaching unemployed individuals in their establishment in the labor market, where the role of the employment consultant is to motivate, lead, and plan for the work ahead to prepare participants for the regular labor market. The work also involves supporting both participants and workplaces in our work with municipal labor market employment, where employment consultants support workplaces with guidance. The work is carried out both independently and in collaboration with other authorities and administrations. The employment consultant also collaborates with private companies and requests workplaces for work training/internships for our participants.

Your qualifications and experience

Applicants should have an academic degree in the behavioral sciences of at least 180 credits or equivalent 120 credits in the old system, which the employer assesses as relevant for the assignment. It is advantageous if you have basic training in Supported Employment and Motivational Interviewing.

We want you to have experience working with the target group we encounter, which consists of individuals with various forms of work disabilities such as physical and mental health issues, social problems, cognitive disabilities, and inadequate knowledge of the Swedish language. Previous experience in the following areas is advantageous:

  • labor market issues
  • collaboration with authorities
  • guidance and coaching
  • work according to the Supported Employment method.

The individuals we seek need to have good collaboration skills to work well with other administrations, authorities, and external contacts. The role requires you to work in a structured manner and to plan and execute tasks independently. You also need to be attentive, with understanding and respect for the participants' situations, and create conditions for them to be involved in their own planning towards self-sufficiency.

You need to have good skills in expressing yourself in spoken and written Swedish, as some administration is included in the positions. It is advantageous if you speak more languages than Swedish.

You should also have good computer skills and basic knowledge of the most common Office programs, as well as a B driver's license.
